Share Your World Week 33

First off I have a question for my followers:  Would you prefer I leave this site as strictly for Southern Vampire Mysteries and True Blood related stuff or would you be okay with me posting my other than story, reviews and recipe posts here.  I have had a follower comment on my posting interests other than SVM and TB here and she suggested that I separate the two.  I don’t have an issue separating them but I would like to know how my other readers feel about it before I make a final decision.

So, here’s my Share Your World for this week:

Do you believe in ghosts?

I do

Irregardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility:  If you could play any sport professionally what would it be?  Or if you can’t picture yourself playing sports, what is your favorite sport?

I haven’t watched or participated in sports in a very long time but I used to love baseball/softball and I do enjoy the feeling of being at a sporting event as opposed to watching it on the television.

Do you prefer long hair or short hair for yourself?

I love the way my hair curls and waves when it’s longer but for ease of maintenance I prefer short hair.

If you were on an small island, who would you want to be with? And where is it?  How big is it?

This one’s a bit more difficult than usual for me.  I love my alone time so it would have to be someone who respects the fact that the older I get the more I’m prone to being a loner.

My current favorite is Alexander Skarsgard (sorry for the lack of punctuation on the last name…foreign languages aren’t really that friendly with English keyboards).

My all time favorites are Sean Connery for his accent, Johnny Depp because he’s Johnny Depp and I’ve crushed on him for forever and Peter De Luise because I love his work.

The island would be moderately sized so we could each have some place to go and be alone when we needed it but it would be tropical so we could enjoy the sight of each others naked bodies 😀 without having to deal with all that clothing business.  There wouldn’t have to be any sex involved but I DO enjoy looking at a handsome man :),

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Believe it or not I’m grateful that the company I’ve worked for for 25 years acknowledged me and my contributions to the company.  It’s nice to be recognized once in a while.

Next week I’m on vacation!  WOOT!  I have no plans other than to spend a good deal of it in a vegetative state, help my brother with his business and more vegetating!

Ohhhhhhhh, next Saturday is August 30!  FanExpo here I come!

Sharere Your World Week 32

Do you prefer ketchup or mustard?

No brainer for me…Mustard!  I can’t stand ketchup!  I’m allergic to tomatoes which totally sucks since I love them so much and sugar is the second or third ingredient.  Coca-Cola is about the only place I like the extra sugar.  Even my coffee barely has any sugar in it.

If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction?

Boring?  Really, there is not much that happens in my life.

If you could be given any gift what would it be?

I would love to be able to write a book and have it on the best sellers list.  This isn’t about the money since I couldn’t care less about it, it’s about being able to accomplish the feat.

For potlucks or parties do you cook it yourself, buy from a grocery store, or pay for catering?

If I’m going I make it myself and If I’m having it here I cook and have others brings things as well.  Of course those others generally buy it on the way to my place, lol.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

BLUESFEST!  Unfortunately it was a bust for me:(.  I ended up at my favorite vegetarian coffee shop/cafe.  Unfortunately it was too crowded for me because I happened to pick the night they were having poetry readings sigh.  It wasn’t the crowd that did me in though, it was the heat from so many people because they didn’t have the air conditioning turned up high enough to compensate :(, otherwise I would have stayed.  My son did give me a ride to and from though AND refused when I offered him gas money, lmao.

Share Your World Week 31

If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be? (guest can be dead, alive, famous or someone you just know)

Charlainne Harris so I could ask her WTF she was thinking when she wrote those last three books!

HBO execs so I could ask them WHY they kept Bill Compton around!  They had a chance to improve on the books and they flubbed it!

My boyfriend so he could wow everyone with his stand up comedy routine.

What can you always be found with?

My cigs and lighter, eReader, cell phone and my glasses.

What is the most fun thing you did in school?

Seriously?  School wasn’t so much fun for me as a chore even though I did enjoy my school years.  If I have to pick something I would say spending most of my final year playing hooky, while still on the property, and playing cards with my best friend.

What’s something you know you do differently than most people?

Hmmm…I plan my weekends weeks in advance?  I don’t like not knowing what’s going to happen although I am not a micromanager.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

It was a long weekend so I had a three day weekend to rest and relax with some writing thrown into the mix.

Bluesfest this weekend!  Woot!

Share Your World: Week 30

List 2 things you have to be happy about.

I’m alive and well, have a roof over my head, a job and am planning on going to Fan Expo on August 30:  lots to be happy about.

List at least 2 things in nature that you find most beautiful.

The day after a spring rain and sunset in the country.

Show us 2 of your favorite photographs. Explain why they are your favorite.   If you are not a photographer (serious or otherwise), think of a two favorite scenes in your life and tell us about them.

This was the first time I took a picture of food :).  It turned out pretty good although I am NOT a photographer by any stretch of the imagination.

PHOTO22  Sorry about the quality.  It was just a cheapo digital camera which has since been replaced.

This is my son sharing a plate of spaghetti with one of our budgies, not that you can tell, lol.

List 2 of your best personality traits.

Giving, sometimes to a fault and to my detriment a lot of the time.

I am funny, despite the fact my boyfriend says I have no sense of humour :D.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I’m grateful to be alive and I’m looking forward to the holiday next Monday AND Bluesfest the following weekend!

Share Your World–Week 29

Have you ever been in a submarine?  If you haven’t, would you want to?

Nope, not planning on it either.  Claustrophobia and panic attacks don’t do well in an area where I can’t escape quickly and easily.

Are you a listener or talker?

I used to be a talker, whether I had something to actually say or not.  I can remember my mom telling a story from when I was real little.  We were at the pediatrician’s office and he told me that if I didn’t stop talking so much my tongue would get sunburned, lol.

This has changed over time though.  I’ve learned that you can learn more by being quiet and listening to what others are saying than you can by hogging the conversation..  You also find more to laugh about because you can see it when others realize they’ve said or done something wrong; their reactions can be quite hilarious.

Do you prefer crunchy peanut butter or smooth peanut butter?   Anything with your peanut butter?

Creamy, of course.  The only thing I require is a spoon :D.

Have you ever been drunk?

Many years ago.  Young, stupid but not so stupid as to not do my drinking at a friend’s place where he wouldn’t be driving and their was a nice toilet handy for the morning after.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I’m finding the UBC-banner3 to be easier than I thought it would be although this weekly one is a little harder since the email comes through a little funny so I miss it more often than not.

I’m looking forward to continuing both of these challenges and, well, just continuing to wake each morning.

Share Your World–Week 28

Have you ever been a participant in a parade? What did you do?

Yup.  Way back when I was a teen.  All I can remember is riding my bike, lol.

If you were handed free opera tickets, would you go or sell them? Why?

I would go.  I’ve always wanted to go but never had the money or someone to go with.

Why did you start your blog?

A place for my fanfiction stories where the M rating wasn’t policed by the ‘ooooooooo, this has adult content so we should report it so it will be deleted’ police.

What is your favorite tradition? (family tradition, church tradition, whatever)

Things have changed so much in my family life over the last six years so any traditions I had are no longer 😦 and I haven’t picked up any new ones.

I think the best one, which came about only because my parents (and them me as a parent) wanted a little peace and quiet on Christmas Eve.  My parents would let us kids open one present on Christmas Eve and I passed that on to my kids.  It’s much better than listening to a litany of ‘is it time yet?’ “has he come yet?” ‘can we open a gift yet Mom?’

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I think we’re all grateful for the slightly cooler weather which has taken my mind back to when we first moved here in 1975.  The temperatures then were much more moderate and humidity was an unknown entity.  I’m grateful one of my son’s has found a job he’s enjoying for the  moment

I am one week closer to a week’s vacation, lol.

Share Your World week 27

If you were the architect of one existing building, which building would you select?

I’ve never particularly paid attention to architecture but I will show you the UGLIEST sculpture I’ve ever seen, and we have some beautiful sculptures locally.sculpture

This sits outside the former court house in downtown and has done so for the last 34 years and it’s even uglier now than it was when they erected it.  The only changes have been that they closed off the two ends so people wouldn’t try to get inside it.

What is one of your favorite quotes?

Right now I would say my favorite quote is the one I’m working on for the Ultimate Blog Challenge.

10 life lessons

What color do you feel most comfortable wearing?

I LOVE purple and all shades of it!  Then again teal and aqua do wonders for me as well.

What is something you learned in the last week?

I learned I cannot watch a trainee work without feeling like my brain will implode.

Actually, I started a new challenge and I’m learning quite a bit about myself through it.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I’m grateful for old connections renewed :).

Thanks to share-your-world2 for this great challenge and to UBC-banner3 for helping me get my mojo going so I can hopefully get out of this funk.

Share Your World week 26

I kind of got away from this and that was not my intention so, let’s see how long I can keep it up this time.

Is your refrigerator, organized or a mess inside?

I try to keep it organized but the boyfriend likes his dressings and dips so there are far too many in there, taking up a LOT of space so, of course it’s messy.

If you could be famous for one thing, what would it be?

This is a tough one:  I would LOVE to be a best selling author, unfortunately my writing ability lately drifts more toward brainstorming with others to get over rough spots in their stories rather than working on my own *sigh*

What one thing have you not done that you really want to do?

Another toughie.  I would so love to move back to the states to be closer to the rest of the family.  I’ve missed the closeness we had before we moved to Canada waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy back in 1975 and with both my parents gone now, and it being just me and my brother and my kids here…even if I could afford to snowbird that would be awesome.

Where do you eat breakfast?

When I bother it’s usually right here in front of my computer, especially since it’s only me up at the ass crack of dawn.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I can’t say anything stood out last week, other than horribly humid weather (yeah, I know, neeeeeeever happy about the weather) and how miserable we all were so I guess I’m just grateful I made it out the other side without being a puddle on the concrete.

Percy Sledge is going to be in town at the Blues Festival on the 10th and I am SO looking forward to that!

Share Your World, Week 13, 2014

Do you believe in extraterrestrials or life on other planets?

Yup.  I swear some of the people I know are extraterrestrials!  Please, let’s just not let our governments in on the secret or they’ll spend even more money they don’t have to try and take over in a place we can’t live.

What type of pet or pets do you not want to have?

I have a budgie.

That’s all I want.  Apartment living is not meant for animals no matter how many of my neighbors happen to think the opposite and have those noisy little so-and-sos who bark at any sound or movement or have the HUGE dogs who really should be out on a farm somewhere so they can run around.  Cats.  Love ’em but with no place to put the litter box it’s not going to happen.

So, to actually answer the question:  if the animal can’t be contained I don’t want it.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Some shade of purple.  Lavender is nice but so are a lot of the other shades :).

What type of transportation would you be? Why?

Bicycle.  I love to be out and about and visiting and a bicycle allows for stopping and chatting without holding up traffic..  It’s also more economically friendly; leaves a much smaller carbon foot print.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

My muse seems to be poking her head out of the aether and making small steps towards coming home full time!  YAY!

I’m looking forward to more writing and the nicer weather which is slowly, too slowly, appearing.

Share Your World week 12, 2014

I’ve grown a little lax with posting, obviously, and my muse seems to have taken a semi-permanent vacation so I’m going to try doing some blog challenges to try and get back into the groove and hopefully my muse will come along for the ride.

Once can only hope *sigh*.

Any way I’ve decided I’m going to try the Share Your World Challenge.  The Author posts four questions each week and we have a week to post our answers.  Let’s see how long I can keep this up.

This week’s questions are:

What is your most favorite smell/scent?

I’ve never really thought about it before.  There are scents which just turn me right off like offensive body odor, too much perfume (it doesn’t matter the scent, if you bathed in it, it’s entirely too much), a car burning oil and soured milk.

Thinking about it the only scents that come to mind that I enjoy have to do with the weather and out doors of all things.  I enjoy the smell after a good rain when it’s soaked the parched earth and it’s eagerly drinking it up.  Fresh cut grass:  Allergic as the dickens but I still like the smell.  The ozone just before or after an electrical storm.  Strange, I know, but nobody ever said I was normal :).

How do you write: computer, longhand or other?

I usually write on the computer since it’s harder to lose anything that way.  It’s not impossible as an author I beta for can attest to since I lost one of her chapters over the weekend, then found it yesterday.  I will occasionally write in long hand, and sometimes short hand, but those pages end up at the bottom of my purse, aka the black hole, and are never seen again.

Your favorite blog post that you have written? (add link)

There isn’t just one.  Any of my fanfic recommendations, my recipes, book recommendation, pretty much anything I’ve posted.

What’s one of your favorite books from childhood?

The first book I can ever remember reading is Little House In the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder.  I couldn’t have been any older than seven or eight when I read it since we  moved here when I was almost 9 and I know it was before that.  I love the whole series though and have it in both physical copy and ebook :).

I also love, LOVE L. M. Montgomery!  The Anne of Green Gables Series, Emily of New Moon, etc.  Of all of Montgomery’s books though I think I like Rilla of Ingleside the best for some reason.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

This isn’t necessarily last week so much as it is that I’m grateful Old Man Winter is finally breaking his hold!  We’ve had a few gorgeous weather days in the last couple of weeks; they haven’t been as frequent as I want but they have been there.

A friend and I were joking on the way to work this morning that Mother Nature is going through the change of life so the last few years she’s been having hot flashes, now she’s got the shivers :D:D:D:D.

What am I looking forward to in the coming week?  Hmmmm, it’s hard to say.  I can tell you what I’m looking forward to in July but the upcoming week?  Haven’t got a clue.
