New Blog

Hello all.

I find I’m blogging and reblogging things which are not really relevant to SVM & TB stories so I started A Little of this and A Little of That so I don’t fill your inboxes with irrelevant to you posts..

I will still keep this one for my Sookie and Eric stories and challenges, books and recommendations and a few recipes but everything else will be moved over there over the next little while.

This ‘n That is meant for my Dr. Who obsession, Outlander, stuff I just find cool, unrelated rants and other things which I know some of you aren’t really interested in..

Thankx to all of you for making this such a wonderful place to hang out and especially to kittyinaz for all the recent reposts and Ultimate Blog Challenge for giving me the opportunity to expand my horizons and realize there is more out there than Eric and Sooke! Lol.

Hugs to all of you. I hope to see some of you over there in the near future.

Life Hacks

Life Hacks

It’s Ultimate Blog time again and I thought I’d start this one with a life hack.

This one is for parents.  For those of you who enjoy Disney movies I just found out that if your child writes a letter to their favorite character they will supposedly write back. The link above takes you to the appropriate page with the address but, just in case:

‘Character Name’

Walt Disney Communications
P.O. Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, Florida
32830-0040

The site had some cool Hacks so I’m make post a few of them.

Share Your World Week 33

First off I have a question for my followers:  Would you prefer I leave this site as strictly for Southern Vampire Mysteries and True Blood related stuff or would you be okay with me posting my other than story, reviews and recipe posts here.  I have had a follower comment on my posting interests other than SVM and TB here and she suggested that I separate the two.  I don’t have an issue separating them but I would like to know how my other readers feel about it before I make a final decision.

So, here’s my Share Your World for this week:

Do you believe in ghosts?

I do

Irregardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility:  If you could play any sport professionally what would it be?  Or if you can’t picture yourself playing sports, what is your favorite sport?

I haven’t watched or participated in sports in a very long time but I used to love baseball/softball and I do enjoy the feeling of being at a sporting event as opposed to watching it on the television.

Do you prefer long hair or short hair for yourself?

I love the way my hair curls and waves when it’s longer but for ease of maintenance I prefer short hair.

If you were on an small island, who would you want to be with? And where is it?  How big is it?

This one’s a bit more difficult than usual for me.  I love my alone time so it would have to be someone who respects the fact that the older I get the more I’m prone to being a loner.

My current favorite is Alexander Skarsgard (sorry for the lack of punctuation on the last name…foreign languages aren’t really that friendly with English keyboards).

My all time favorites are Sean Connery for his accent, Johnny Depp because he’s Johnny Depp and I’ve crushed on him for forever and Peter De Luise because I love his work.

The island would be moderately sized so we could each have some place to go and be alone when we needed it but it would be tropical so we could enjoy the sight of each others naked bodies 😀 without having to deal with all that clothing business.  There wouldn’t have to be any sex involved but I DO enjoy looking at a handsome man :),

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Believe it or not I’m grateful that the company I’ve worked for for 25 years acknowledged me and my contributions to the company.  It’s nice to be recognized once in a while.

Next week I’m on vacation!  WOOT!  I have no plans other than to spend a good deal of it in a vegetative state, help my brother with his business and more vegetating!

Ohhhhhhhh, next Saturday is August 30!  FanExpo here I come!

10 Amazing Life Lessons #4

The Imagination Is Powerful

Yes, imagination IS powerful.

If it weren’t for imagination we wouldn’t have books and stories.  We wouldn’t have games and our children wouldn’t be able to amuse themselves for five minutes in the backseat without driving Mom and Dad totally bonkers by saying, “Are we there yet?” every five seconds during a five hour road trip!

Would any of us have been able to get through even a ten minute car ride if we’d had to put up with THAT ^^^^ since our children learned how to talk?  No?  Didn’t think so

Yes, we have Gameboys, PSPs, books, dinky cars, paper and pens and all manner of things to help keep our little sponges from absorbing Dad’s swear words as he makes a wrong turn or rant as some idiot driver cuts him off or mom’s incessant rattling off of the grocery list in her head since she either didn’t think to borrow the sponges pen and paper to write down the list or forgot the darned thing on the counter during the mad dash to get everyone into their snowsuits and the rest of the winter gear and out the door so she could be there when the doors opened so she could avoid the rush of the elderly who just meander down the aisles then stand in the middle of said aisle to gossip with someone they haven’t seen since last Saturday.

Poking fun at myself aside we wouldn’t have some very awesome authors, incredible games or even the ability to write if someone with an imagination hadn’t thought those things up in the first place then had the stick-to-itiveness to get them out in the market.

We wouldn’t have medicines and vaccines, computers, electricity without the imagination of their inventors and then of those who improved upon the original through the years so yes, imagination is powerful, not to mention necessary in today’s world and for the future.
