My Two Cents’ Worth
Go ahead y’all, you can faint now :).
Okay, good, you’re up and moving again.
Not only is this a long overdue story review, it’s not even related to Southern Vampire Mysteries OR True Blood!
Shoot, y’all fainted again!
Ah, there you are. Again.
Mommy4Thomas doesn’t write a lot but when she does it’s POW! I am grabbed from the first words of the story and I can’t wait until the next chapter so I can read more, and more, and more…you get the idea.
If you’re like me you don’t follow the Twilight stuff. I found sparkly vampires offputting, to say the least. Well, Mommy4Thomas has gotten me hooked on at least two of her stories now and, if I remember right it was last year at this time that she got me the first time with her story A Christmas Dream which I may have to read again since it IS a Christmas story :D.
Second Chances is set post season 6 in Vampire Diaries, I haven’t watched that far just yet but I have seen spoilers.
Damon has had second thoughts about his promise to Elena. Bella is running from Victoria, never staying in one place for too long before moving on again, trying to stay ahead of the hit squad.
Damon ends Victoria. The rest, as they say, is history.
Damon and Bella seem to have some intangible something going on between them. There’s eventually love there, and friendship and respect but there’s something more that I can’t quite put my finger on.
As I said in my review on last week’s chapter:
*touches a wet finger to a hot griddle* tssssssssssssssssssssss Hot baby!
I have read a lot of steamy stuff in the last couple of years, but this is one of the best. It takes more than just ‘he put this there’ to pull me in and keep me interested.
It’s not just about the sex with them. It’s about the attraction, the chase, the something intangible that couples who really get each other have. That something cannot be defined, but it’s there, screaming at them to just grab the moment and let go of everything else.
Damon and Bella are seducing each other. If, for some reason, things don’t work out between them I think the aftermath will make what happened in Mystic Falls before look like the Winter Carnival. There will be carnage and destruction and it may just be the one thing from which Damon will never recover.
Ahem, that was the long-winded way of saying extremely well done!
That review says it all, really. It’s hot, it’s steamy, it’s sexy and all without being ‘in your face’ with the sex. For them, it does seem to be about so much more than sex; especially since the sex didn’t happen until months after Damon killed Victoria.
That’s all I’m going to say about it. I’ll let you form your own opinions when you go read it.
