Karen is a wonderful book! It’s an oldie, first published in 1952 by Dell Publishing, but the lessons learned in this true life book are time tested and just as true today, in 2013, as they were when this book is set.
Karen is just born, at three months premature, weighing in at less than two pounds and was less than a foot long when the story starts.
Karen follows the trials and tribulations of a family with a premature baby who does develop complications.
Follow the delightful baby as she grows into an inquisitive toddler, a wonderful child, a beautiful teenager and a well-rounded and wonderful woman and learns: as she visits doctor after doctor after doctor, for years, to learn what’s wrong with her and how her parents can help her become the best adult she can possibly be.
There is a sequel: With Love From Karen.
I have read this story countless times and it’s always a thrill to read it again and again and again.
Karen is one of several books I own that has been read, and reread, more often than my favourite fanfiction stories.
