Just what it says. general stuff in life that really have not category
I saw something on Pinterest the other day that got me thinking.
I’m currently in a crafty/DIY/home improvement type of mind frame so when I saw someone make a holder for their electronic charge chords, ear buds and wall charger it got me thinking because I was going nuts trying to keep it all straight in my work bag or purse.
What I saw was someone turning a piece of faux leather into a roll up holder for all those chords.
That seemed a little too bulky and not very pretty to look at, despite what they said so I thought I would go them one better.
I didn’t make mine but I did find something at Walmart today that seems to be doing the trick admirably.
It’s a wrist purse with room in the front for your phone &/or iPod/mp3 player then you unzip it and there’s credit card slots and a spot for paper money and change.
Room for my iPod &/or phone.
On the right bottom is my iPod ear buds, above that is the charger for my iPod and iPad.
In the center is a wall charger adapter.
On the left is the chord for my phone/eReader.
Now they all fit in my purse, stay untangled and are easily accessible.
I just thought I would share this for all the parents out there.
I’ve seen this one before but it’s still awesome.
Older babies, rubber ducks and other floating bath time toys and a laundry basket!
Who’d a thunk?
Today at work we had the second annual employee appreciation BBQ. The weather wasn’t the nicest since it was downright cold and very windy but still it was a fairly good time. The union president was even there.
The union has always supported the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada in the wonderful work they do but this year Kraus decided they were going to get in on the volunteer wagon as well.
They chose to partner with Habitat for Humanity and honestly I don’t think I could think of a better fit for a flooring company than a volunteer organization that helps those who are down on their luck with their housing situations.
For the first time in a very long time I’m proud to say I work for Kraus Carpets.
They are finally pulling themselves up by their boot straps and getting out in the community, recognizing all the hard work their employees have put into their products and I, at least, am a lot happier with my job now than I can ever remember being.
The proverbial icing on the cake today was that I got a 25 year service award which includes a day off with pay. The day off has to be used by December 31 and they have to make sure they will have enough workers to get the product out by the end of the day but I don’t see an issue with that at all :).
Kudos to Kraus Carpets and UFCW 175 and 633.

Carly Knobloch wrote a wonderful post about how much time is too much phone time in the bedroom and I thought I would give my response here.
I vote that any time is too much time. My phone only makes it into the bedroom if it’s during the day and I’m barricading myself in because I’m a grouchy bear or I’m expecting an emergency phone call from family.
My phone stays in the living room on my table/file cabinet right along with my laptop, tablet and iPod. None of that makes it to the bedroom since I much prefer to fall asleep to absolute quiet with no distractions in the form of things that can light up my dark room, ding or otherwise do things to disturb me during my downtime.
I do not use it as an alarm clock. It’s way too tantalizing to check email or reply to texts when I pick it up in order to check the time. I have one of those old fashioned gadgets called an alarm clock. You know, that thing that makes an extremely annoying buzzing sound at the proscribed time each morning. It is even newfangled enough to have a second alarm so I don’t have to fuss around with it in the dark to set it so my boyfriend will get up at the correct time several hours after I get up.
I may be the black sheep here but some days I regret ever getting a cell phone and internet.
Yes, a cell phone has allowed my family to reach me no matter what but that is a good thing AND a bad thing. There are times when I just want to escape without leaving home, which I do manage but I shouldn’t have to hide from everyone after I hide my phone and other electronic gadgets in order to do so. Gone are the days where if I wasn’t near my landline they would have to call back or hope I checked the call display to find out that they called and call them back. Gone are the days where I could enjoy a less stressful day with a good book at the beach because they always manage to find me even if they don’t know me personally or whether they are there physically or not.
What say my readers? How much time is too much phone time in the bedroom?
#6 Live In the Moment
This sounds amazingly easy to do, doesn’t it.
How many times have we caught ourselves lamenting a choice we made way back when? How often do we think, “If only…”?
In some ways I think not living in the moment lead to my depression. I kept remembering that moment when I was 18 and wishing I could go back to that time and make a different decision so it would change the way things were in my life so I could be happy again.
I don’t own a time machine so going back was not an option; I just couldn’t see that at the time. I couldn’t make that different decision nor could I warn younger me what would happen if I made the decision I did.
It’s been a long hard road to where I am now. I maybe wouldn’t have met some of the wonderful people I’ve met. I might not have had some of the adventures I’ve had and I definitely wouldn’t be the same me I am now, right this moment.
Living in the past, or living for the future, means you aren’t living in the here and now. You aren’t doing what you can to make this moment the best in your life so far
So, make this moment count.
I stand with my cousin though we’re hundreds of miles apart physically and want to share his views on what America (and Canada) are coming to when we can’t show our support by doing something as simple as displaying our country’s flag in support.
raises an imaginary glass of sparkling apple cider in support of rights for Americans by Americans
I’m also sending you to youtube to listen to some Lee Greenwood.
I’m impressed with myself!
I’m one of the world’s largest procrastinators. If something can be done tomorrow, next week or next month the odds are pretty awesome that they won’t get done now simply because I have other things I would much rather be doing. Most of those things I would rather be doing most often involve reading on some level.
When I started Ultimate Blog Challenge earlier this month I honestly didn’t think I would finish it since most of what I start usually ends up being abandoned but I didn’t abandon this one. In fact I think I’ve actually done more than 31 posts since I started it.
I am going to try to turn over a new leaf and attempt to update this blog at least once a week then do the challenge again when it comes around because I’ve found myself actually having fun while doing it. Of course it has helped that I asked an all important question over on facebook and got a quick reply. That quick reply lead me to discovering how to do a hashtag for Twitter in my post settings which lead to my discovering how to schedule posts. Scheduling posts meant I could actually write the posts when I had time on the weekend then schedule them so they would go out daily rather than when I remembered to go back to the draft and post it.
It has been a fun month full of discoveries about myself and my life and remembering how much I really do enjoy a challenge.
As a result of this challenge I’ve got some new followers waves hi to all of you and I’ve discovered some awesome blogs along the way as well.
I don’t know where the next few months will find me but I will be doing the Ultimate Blog Challenge again in a few months. Maybe my muse will come back? Please come back?
Until next week take care of yourselves, live, love, laugh and have fun.
