First of all; today’s Fanfiction Minions post is up.
If you have gone to the site rather then reading in email lately you will have seen that I’ve made some changes.
I’m still writing; just not exclusively Eric and Sookie and certainly not exclusively in the SVM/TB fandom. Those stories are still in me a little bit but I feel I’ve written all there is for me to write in that vein, especially since so many others do it so much better than I ever could.
I have written a story for The Non-Canon Awards The Villain’s Turn contest. The link will lead you to the first story.
In the last year or so I have written for several contests and had fun writing each of them.
There have even been a couple of crack fics written because of inspiration from someone else’s story or prompt and I wrote Birthday Surprise for the recent Southern Vampire Mysteries/True Blood Fanfiction Exchange. Fairy Tale Amber wrote Pledge To A Viking for me during the exchange :D.
If you want to see all my contest entries they can be found on my Brag Page.
Why am I changing things?
My own focus has gone from writing what I love to reading what I love and I’m hoping to reflect that with the changes.
I am still writing and they will be posted here as time, life and deadlines/voting permit.
I am still posting the bi-weekly updates on Fanfiction Minions.
Any recipes will be posted at Kittyinaz’s Food Group Blog.
Natsgirl1 has reached the end of The Far Reach. I can’t recommend this series highly enough, and that’s not just because I beta it either. It truly is a wonderful idea. The first of the series is Swimming For the Light and the final story, A Distant Horizon will be starting sometime next month.
I will be doing The Ultimate Blog Challenge this time around but I will be doing it over at This ‘N That to help me continue posting over there and to maybe meet others who have varied interests as well.
This ‘n That was started as a way to delve into my other interests without boring those of you who have found me here at SVM and TB Stories. Stories is a niche site and I didn’t want to take away from that plus This ‘n That is my way of paying a small tribute to the late, great Ericizmine.
As most of you know she had many interests and her interest was shown in her writing. Well, the first story of hers I ever read was Sinners and Saints and there is a line in there where Sookie is asked what she’s been up to. Her answer was ‘A little of this and a little of that’. The web address is lilathisnalilofthat as the tribute.
I’m getting distracted by new and shiny so I’ll sign off for now and see you in a lil bit over at This ‘n That :).
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Of January at any rate.
My year has been meh so far, not that I’m complaining since meh is a far cry better than drama laden!
It is also the end of the current Ultimate Blog Boost challenge. I’ve had a lot of fun doing it, as I always do, and I’ve discovered some new and interesting things.
I’ve also discovered that my followers seem to enjoy books and book reviews as much as I do :), so I will continue posting them in order to help ME keep active in my own blog.
This will probably be the last Blog Boost Challenge I do on the SVM & TB fanfic site though. There isn’t a lot out there about The Southern Vampire Mysteries or True Blood since both have ended their runs much to the fans relief since both seemed to be written for the writers or actors instead of the fanbase shrug.
I never read the final book or the coda and I haven’t watched since season 4. Yeah, that’s how much I disagreed with what was happening with my favorite couple.
The next blog challenge will most likely be over at This ‘n That instead so I can promote it.
I haven’t locked myself into a niche over there so I can post a wider variety of things without alienating my hard won followers.
I am also going to try to get my brother’s wordpress off the ground as well but that will require input from him sigh. It will get there, hopefully before I’m old and gray.
I’m also helping over at Story’s by Lilly Gray. WARNING: The stories over on Lilly’s site are NOT mainstream! They do have triggers, contain BDSM and abuse in some cases so it is not for everyone! Please, if you do not enjoy those types of stories don’t go there because you will not like it!
I will continue posting Eric and Sookie related things here though, at least as long as they keep hitting my inbox or can be found on the net and I will continue with the other great things I have going on here including the recipes, book reviews, story spotlights and other things we all find interest in with our favorite couple
Ohhhhhhhh, I didn’t include Natsgirl in my updates post earlier! Silly me :D. I forgot to add her to my alerts over on ffn. She’s got a totally awesome story going, Swimming To the Light, which I am betaing for her.
Summary: What happens after DEA? Follow Eric & Sookie as they find each other again.
My thoughts: Forget about the Coda! It does NOT exist! Things at the end of DEA were not as they seemed, they were worse! Follow Eric, Sookie, Felipe and other major players as Natsgirl makes things right!
She’s also helping me with a story I’ve had in my log since shortly after DItF was published so hopefully I’ll have something for you of my own later this year.
What else is there? Hmmmm….
That’s it for now. Have a wonderful February and I hope the rest of your year goes swimmingly!
I love some of Don Charisma’s posts! They may be ‘just’ a quote but they speak volumes to me
Okay, I will admit to being a bit OCD about my books, physical or otherwise, but I can’t say I’ve ever gone so far as to say my ebooks must have never touched my feet or shoes.
I will, however, go so far as to say I do generally only have one book on the go at a time. This was ingrained in me from childhood and I find it much, much easier to keep characters and plot points straight since I’m not thinking about what’s happening in one book versus another which simply means I don’t confuse myself.
I will freely admit to her 2: not marking up a physical book and at the very least leaving it in the same condition it was in when I got it.
4: no sounds whatsoever while reading. Noise, no matter what kind, is very distracting and I find it hard to get back into the head space I was in. I find the same applies when I’m blogging, betaing and writing as well.
and 10: I’ve always had a book on the go since I learned to read. Currently it’s Lover Eternal from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Unfortunately my copy is missing a few pages so I need to see about finding a different copy sigh.
I will even add one of my own: If I find glaringly obvious errors it’s a turn off. I’ll be sorely tempted to not finish the book or series, especially if there are a lot of obvious errors. If I’m doing the writing I’m so obsessive about spelling, grammar and continuity errors it’s a wonder I ever finish writing a story since I can’t, absolutely can not, continue onto the next word if there’s an uncorrected error. The advent of built in spell check in Firefox, Chrome, Word and Google Docs has made this particular obsession even worse since they both underline, in red, any error!
If I’m betaing or prereading I have to force myself to read through the copy first, just so I can get a feel of where it’s going, before I start making any corrections or suggestions.
The funny part of my little obsession is that my brain will automatically fill in the missing word or correct tense which, on occasion, will drive me bonkers, especially when I’m going over someone else’s work for them because it means I have to do twice the work and force my brain to see what’s there instead of adding what it thinks should be there.
Oh, and before I hit draft: not having my mouse work is annoying at best! The right click on my laptop doesn’t work so I have to use the mouse, hard to do when it isn’t working :(.
