Guess who wrote something?
Yup, me! WOOT!
Entries are due tonight at midnight PST so I hope you’ve got your entry in or are just putting the finishing touches on your story!
Good luck to all who submitted something!
I think this is the first Coffee Share I’ve done over here so I’ll explain it.
If you’ll click the coffee cup above you’ll be taken to a place where you can find new blogists (is that a word?) who take part in this weekly thing called weekend coffee share. It’s a place where we can have a little fun and share a bit about our week
It was started by Part-Time Monster a while back and there are plenty of us who do it, some more than others, some less (ahem…me…ahem) but it’s a way to connect, have fun and maybe find something new to read.
If we were having coffee on this HOT, sunny Sunday morning I would let y’all know that I am not impressed with last week’s humidity or what’s supposed to be coming this week, although I am very thankful it broke for yesterday.
If we were having coffee I would tell you that I got to meet one of my Facebook friends for the first time last night. She was totally awesome and I’m looking forward to another movie night!
If we were having coffee I would tell you that we went to see Tarzan last night.
I was totally jazzed, mostly because I was meeting someone new but also I was going to the first movie in a long while AND it starred Alexander Skarsgard (sorry for the misspelling, I don’t have the Swedish keyboard setting), Margot Robbie and Samuel L. Jackson.
It seemed like Robbie and Jackson did the acting while Skarsgard provided the comedic relief and the eye candy.
You know those Tarzan reviews out there? The ones talking about his abs and lack of shirt for 2/3 of the movie and the fact his long johns sat way down over his hips? (Can we say ‘V’ boys and girls? A little further south of the border and we might have got what we paid for.) They’re all extremely accurate.
I watch a movie for the entertainment value so when I notice inconsistencies you know that, aside from spending FAR too much time with my boyfriend, it wasn’t a great movie. Unfortunately, it was utterly and achingly forgettable for me.
Funny thing: They tried, tried, to imitate the Tarzan yell. It sounded more like Samuel L. Jackson yelling because he was frustrated because he couldn’t keep up with Tarzan. Or a hippopotamus mating call.
Now, how was your week?
This is going to get shared all over the place!
I couldn’t agree with Part time Monster more.
The world as we know it has stolen women’s voices from them. We aren’t given pertinent information which we, as women NEED in order to make more informed decisions about our own bodies!
We are taught that anything feminine, when it pertains to ourselves, is dirty and wrong. But WATCH OUT, a man might think you want things you don’t if you wear a skirt/dress/tank top/yoga pants/anything too tight or revealing.
Women are shamed when it comes to their bodies.
We aren’t taught that feminine is beautiful. We aren’t taught that a woman has a place in this world and it isn’t necessarily submitting to her husband.
However, we are taught to cover ourselves up (not that that stops those who want to brutalize us). We are taught that menstruation is dirty and gross. We are taught that breast feeding is excellent for the baby but don’t EVER do it in public!
We are taught all of this, or not, yet women are constantly sexualised in commercials. How else are they going to sell all those pretty looking cars? It couldn’t possibly be because it’s a good product, could it?
We are taught that it’s perfectly fine for a man to go out in public wearing a skin tight pair of jeans, shirt and boots and they won’t be accosted or receive unwanted advances. We are taught that women should EXPECT those unwanted advances, or worse, if she so much as shows her ankles or her cleavage or nothing at all!
We should be able to go out, in public, all by our lonesome or with a group of female friends and be able to enjoy ourselves without having to constantly look over our shoulders, never leave our drinks untended, don’t dance too close, don’t be provocative, ad infinitim!
Women, it’s time we took back what is OURS by right of birth! Our bodies belong to nobody but us yet governments are trying to tell us that they will make certain decisions for us (I am NOT going to get into the whole abortion debate. It’s too deep and too easy to offend someone without meaning to).
What happens to MY body is my decision and my decision alone!
If I say no, I do NOT want to have sex that should be the end of the discussion!
If I say NO to anything at all, that should be the end of the discussion!
Thank you for listening to my long winded rant, lol.
Have a good evening.
Ladies, we need to talk. And I don’t mean that in the sense of “come here, I’m going to tell you something.” Not the way it’s usually meant, when someone says “w…
I THINK I have the problem of the missing posts/feeds fixed!
Over on the sidebar you will see a nice big green and white button, third from the top, with the words in it.
It is similar to the pain in the butt RSS feeds, only much better.
If I’ve done it right what you should see when you click it should look something like
It is free to join and you can follow 100 blogs for free, after that you can go unlimited for $7 a month or $65? a year.
I have also added a subscribe via email option at the very bottom on the right for those of you who might be having issues and don’t want to go the Feedly route.
I hope this helps those who are missing posts, whether you’re a reader or a poster.
