Guest Chapter
Over on Archive Of Our Own (AO3) is where I read most of my Harry Potter fiction. Earlier this week I was approached by kendallnicola to write something for her ongoing series of one shots: Wifi Makes Its Way To Hogwarts. The series is just a lot of silliness but it’s quite entertaining, especially when she brings the Professors in on things.
So, here it is, Reading Around Kisses. Kendallnicola added some things to make it a little longer and make it fit in more with her writing style but it is me :).
If you don’t have a membership at AO3 you will need one since it isn’t rated.
Enjoy.

Demystifying Editing and Proofreading
Thank you Ajoobacats! A huge, HUGE thank you with hugs and smooches on top!
We’ve all read at least ONE of those books. You know the ones; plot holes you can drive a semi through, mixed verb tenses, important but forgotten character bits (turning into a lynx one time then a fox thereafter), comma woes and a plethora of other writing boo boos which are huge no-nos.
Ajoobacats had a guest author give us a simple yet highly effective differentiation between editing and proofreading.
Thank you, well done!
Many times, whilst I am reading a book for review, I find the pace varies, the plot stalls, there’s a lack of consistency in the narrative or it is full of little errors and I am left thinking that the book could have been much better if it had been proofread or edited.
However, editing for me is a subject I know little about so I was delighted when freelance writer, editor and proofreader Jonathan at The ‘Lancer generously offered to guest post and explain to me and my readers the technicalities of editing and proofreading in a clear concise and easily understandable manor.
I am honoured and delighted to learn from an experienced and candid literary professional and I hope you will find his thoughts informative too.
