Monthly Archives: January 2015

This Is the End!

Of January at any rate.

My year has been meh so far, not that I’m complaining since meh is a far cry better than drama laden!

It is also the end of the current Ultimate Blog Boost challenge. I’ve had a lot of fun doing it, as I always do, and I’ve discovered some new and interesting things.

I’ve also discovered that my followers seem to enjoy books and book reviews as much as I do :), so I will continue posting them in order to help ME keep active in my own blog.

This will probably be the last Blog Boost Challenge I do on the SVM & TB fanfic site though. There isn’t a lot out there about The Southern Vampire Mysteries or True Blood since both have ended their runs much to the fans relief since both seemed to be written for the writers or actors instead of the fanbase shrug.

I never read the final book or the coda and I haven’t watched since season 4. Yeah, that’s how much I disagreed with what was happening with my favorite couple.

The next blog challenge will most likely be over at This ‘n That instead so I can promote it.

I haven’t locked myself into a niche over there so I can post a wider variety of things without alienating my hard won followers.

I am also going to try to get my brother’s wordpress off the ground as well but that will require input from him sigh.  It will get there, hopefully before I’m old and gray.

I’m also helping over at Story’s by Lilly Gray. WARNING:  The stories over on Lilly’s site are NOT mainstream! They do have triggers, contain BDSM and abuse in some cases so it is not for everyone! Please, if you do not enjoy those types of stories don’t go there because you will not like it!

I will continue posting Eric and Sookie related things here though, at least as long as they keep hitting my inbox or can be found on the net and I will continue with the other great things I have going on here including the recipes, book reviews, story spotlights and other things we all find interest in with our favorite couple

Ohhhhhhhh, I didn’t include Natsgirl in my updates post earlier!  Silly me :D. I forgot to add her to my alerts over on ffn. She’s got a totally awesome story going, Swimming To the Light, which I am betaing for her.

Summary:  What happens after DEA? Follow Eric & Sookie as they find each other again.

My thoughts:  Forget about the Coda! It does NOT exist! Things at the end of DEA were not as they seemed, they were worse! Follow Eric, Sookie, Felipe and other major players as Natsgirl makes things right!

She’s also helping me with a story I’ve had in my log since shortly after DItF was published so hopefully I’ll have something for you of my own later this year.

What else is there?  Hmmmm….

You can find me on Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Stumbleupon. (If any of the links don’t work go to the Follow Me Page in the toolbar and follow from there.)

That’s it for now. Have a wonderful February and I hope the rest of your year goes swimmingly!

Updates 1-31-15

Kelpie gave us TWO updates in the same post! Lucky, which I had totally forgotten about! The link will take you to the title page so you can start reading from the beginning if you’re mind is a sieve, like mine.

The other was Behind the Camera which has a totally adorable Godric! The totally sexy Eric, Lala, Jesus, Sookie and her little girl Zoe and a host of other canon and original characters.

She also spotlighted a Mortal Instruments story called Snowed In, another called Five Minutes to Midnight and interviewed Caroll E. Stewart

Kittyinaz Light Up the Path (Mummy/Twilight), All I Want

Victory In Trouble Life Goes On is in what she calls this Little Bit; bits and pieces of stories that come to mind but don’t always have a clear cut beginning or end but she wants to share them with us anyway.

She also posted Number Love as a Bit. We all love geeky, adorkable Eric, right? Right?

MistressJessica1028 gave us some updates but I am linking to the post rather than the individual stories since she also included some ASkars pix and a couple of her favorite stories in the post as well.

bertiebott Set My Soul Alight (Twilight/Avengers)

American Android Tumbling Down the Rabbit Hole

KittyinAz directed me to Poze Mom on ffn and the story Mystic Falls Mysteries which is a Twilight/Vampire Diaries cross over. I haven’t read it but I thought I would pass it on for those of you who do read Twilight and other fandoms.

kinnik started her first multi-chapter story Into the Blood. It is intriguing and so far has only original characters. I’m hoping there will be plenty of certain canon characters :D.

Dirty Lemons Dirty Laundry

California Kat Inner. She has also started a Coming page and posted a preview chapter of a new story she’s working on, Breath of Life. Forget everything you know, or think you know, about Sookie Stackhouse and any of Eric’s history since the mid 80’s! From the bit she shared it looks like I might love this story almost as much as I do the Un-iverse stories!

Hisviks Bonfire of the Vanities

TexanLady and NYCSnowbird updated The Arrangement. This is over on blogspot so wait for the age warning, click then you will be on the story (IF you are over the age of 18!) I can’t say this was one of my favorite chapters although I must admit is is canon to Sookie and Eric. They argue! What’s new about that, right?

E-Book Prices, Getting Less Than What You Paid For

E-Book Prices, Getting Less Than What You Paid For | One Lazy Robot.

I happen to agree, a LOT, with Lazy Robot!

I can’t remember the last time I paid full price for a book of any sort!

Hard backs…Uhhh, yeah, what are those again? Ohhhhhhhh, riiiiiiiiigggggggghhhhhhhhttttttttt, those heavy as shit door stops/book ends for paper backs and flower presses!

The last one I bought was a Christmas Present for my boyfriend.

Paperback?  Uhhhh, looks around the room at ALL the bookshelves which are double and triple stacked with books, it’s been years since I bought a paper back. In fact I think the last ones I bought were The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played With Fire.

eBooks?  Yeah, buy them all the time, several a week sometimes. I happen to be on the Kobo list which sends out a list of 15-20 FREE titles every day, including weekends. I’m also a member of eBub which quite frequently has free ebooks. I’m a frequent flier at the public library which is progressive and loans out ebooks.

I also am on the list for a couple of authors to preread which means I sometimes get to read a book before the general public! The Green Dagger and How To Kill Your Senator are examples of books I had the honour and privilege of reading before the general public.

I will, on the rare occasion, pay for a big author. Even then I will generally preorder so I can get the discount for that.

There is another way as well, it’s not used frequently and not all authors/publishers do it but you can sometimes find books which have had the DRM removed from them so you can share them around with your friends.

Book Review: Poisoned Apples: Poems for You, My Pretty by Christine Hepperman

wrapped up in books

I loved poetry as a teenager, but it’s rare to find a collection that I feel confident recommending to Real Actual Teens today. Then I read this kick-ass, thought-provoking, feminist collection of poems inspired by fairy tale tropes, and I was blown away.

SynopsisOnce upon a time…
you were a princess,
or an orphan.
A wicked witch,
fairy godmother,
prom queen,
team captain,
Big Bad Wolf,
Little Bo Peep.
But you are more than just a hero or
a villain, cursed or charmed. You are
everything in between.
You are everything.

In fifty poems Christine Heppermann places fairy tales side by side with the modern teenage girl. Powerful and provocative, deadly…
