10 Amazing Life Lessons #3
Focus on the Present
Focusing on the present is harder than it sounds.
There are times when we get stuck reliving moments in our past that defined, or redefined, who we are.
It’s harder to get out of your head when those moments are ones you would rather forget but they defined you to such a degree that you will forever remember them at least a little bit.
But we can’t live in the past. To do so would negate all the teaching we have during our life to let the past remain in the past, a part of history.
Yes, those moments were necessary to bring you to who and what you are today but they aren’t everything you are; they are but a drop in the bucket that is your life.
Live for today and all your tomorrows. We cannot make a decent future if we continue to dwell on, and repeat, our past.
Remember it, learn from it, but focus on the here and now because here, in this moment, is where you are supposed to be and no amount of complaining or deal making is going to change that one little fact.
You can change your hair color. You can change your clothes but you cannot change this moment in time.
The decisions you make today can change your tomorrow but even that is at least slightly constant in that it will not arrive one second, one minute, one hour sooner than it is supposed to.
