Monthly Archives: December 2010
It was a near perfect Christmas! The first in many years for me :).
We did brunch with my family. A lot less stress for me because I did the majority of the cooking here on Thursday and Friday so I was able to spend time with online friends, get the dishes done (a huge thing for me since I was cooking most of the food AND doing dishes at dad’s). Here I can do the dishes as I go and I’m mostly comfortable in my own kitchen!
I also don’t have to deal with the SIL in my own kitchen since they don’t visit! She’s a lazy twit who doesn’t do anything for anyone if she can possibly get away with it! Even when Mom was alive she wouldn’t help with dishes, cooking or anything else.
There was no disagreement over what to have since we ALL agreed that two Christmas dinners on the same day was too much!
So my brunch was great! I made sausage wraps (weiner wraps only with breakfast sausage) cut in half, breakfast pizza, pumpkin and quiche tarts, macaroons, ham chowder and took stuff to make pancakes/waffles if anyone wanted them. There were also eggs and bacon to cook if wanted.
I got my smaller slow cooker and new knife set and new flannel pyjamas! The greatest gift, though, was no attitude from my oldest. He got what he wanted (clothes if you can believe it!) and he, on his own initiative, got me a present! They’re 15 & this is the first time either of them have gotten me anything (birthday, Mother’s Day, Christmas included) without prompting and using his own hard earned money! *sniff*
It’s Christmas Even in my part of the world.
The tree is up and lit. The presents are wrapped and UNDER (around) the tree, the baking is done and the ham chowder is cooking!
We’ve got brunch at dad’s in the morning, most of which is already cooked! I get to VISIT rather than toil in the kitchen! WOOT!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas filled with love and good food.
Let’s see, where did I leave off last time? Oh yeah, my music.
I read lots, as I mentioned. Everything from Clive Cussler to Stephen King to Robert Jordan, Robin Cook, Spider Robinson & Heinlein! I’m not reading quite as much right now but normally it’s hard to find me without a book some where on my person!
I LOVE movies! We just watched Prisoner of Azkaban for the umpteenth time! I just finished the fourth season of Paranormal state, too, on Netflix.
Hopefully I’ve got all my running around done now & can get down to the business of cooking and baking for Saturday’s brunch & Sunday night’s newest Dr. Who special (mmmmmmmmmm, Amelia Pond!)
I’ve got Saturday’s brunch, Saturday’s dinner and Sunday’s get together as well as a get together with an adored friend some time next week so I want to provide something for all of them.
- Breakfast Pizza
- Weiner Wraps
- Ham Chowder
- Pancakes and/or waffles
- eggs, of course
- Quiche http://www.cookingnook.com/quiche-recipe.html
Then there’s the cookies I want to bake over the next couple of days. I want it all ready to go for Saturday morning so I don’t have to do much cooking there & can, therefore, spend as much time as possible with my family!
I’m hoping that I’ll have more than enough so that Dad will have enough for a few meals, my brother will be able to take some stuff home with him and I’ll be able to take some to share at the other gatherings!
I am now on vacation until Jan. 3rd! YAY!
I’ve got lots to do between tomorrow morning and Sunday evening when we’ve got people coming over to watch Dr. Who Christmas Carol!
- Go buy some carpet powder
- return movie “Vampires Suck” to the gym
- Laundry–a must as I’m out of socks & Breathes is nearly out of work clothes
- wrap presents
- put up tree
- put gift cards in Christmas cards
- clean, clean and MORE clean!
- Christmas Baking
- see if I can’t get Breathes to purge the videos & some of his clothes
We’ve also got Breathes’ family Christmas dinner on Saturday. Unfortunately my sons won’t be able to go:(. It’s the ONLY dinner they have on their dad’s side of the family so I’m not going to make them miss it. I’ll miss them bunches but I’m certainly not going to make them go with us when there is something else they would rather be doing & which they SHOULD be doing. This is their direct family, mine is sort of adopted family.
Tomorrow is supposed to be date night with Possibility. He’s feeling yucky so may not make it :(. I’d rather he stayed home and got well than come & spend time with me when he’s not really feeling up to it. We might still be able to get together via messenger though so the night’s not a total wash yet :).
Okkkkkkkkkkk, I’m new here although I have been reading others for quite a while :).
I’m a single mom of twin teenage sons. Oi Vey! I love ’em but they most certainly know how to push my buttons.
I am a bi-sexual, polyamorous, kinky woman & I love who & what I am!
I have been living with my boyfriend/Sir (aka Breathes) for the last five years & I wouldn’t trade any of that time for anything in the world! Wellllllllllll, maybe I would trade some of the smart mouth for an actual conversation & sex a little more often…..
I have a second boyfriend, Possibility. We’ve been dating, so to speak, off and on for about two years but have known each other closer to five years.
Breathes & Possibility & his other partners get together most Friday nights for a game of D&D! AWESOME!. If the kids are out that means I actually get some quiet time! Time to regenerate & recuperate. Time to sort out whatever conflicting feelings may have arisen, catch up on email and forums.
Let’s see, what else is there to say? Oh yeah, I LOVE to read! I just finished Jeff Dunham’s biography, All By Myselves, which was an interesting read. I’ll probably be starting Clive Cussler’s Medusa this week.
I love my music. Everything from Allan Jackson & Brooks and Dunn to Led Zeppelin, Twisted Sister and Lords of Acid! There’s lots of stuff I enjoy in between as well.
